Whenever I'm buying a ticket Canadian or not I check all the discount websites. It's best not to rely on any single source and to cross-check your information across several websites. That said, I do think that it certainly makes sense to buy your tickets online rather than pay a travel agent a commission to do research for you, unless you are also planning on loading up on extras such as hotel packages and car rental packages.

All of that stuff is available online as well but it can certainly be tedious to figure out the best deal if you're taking so many factors into account and if you don't also travel and make these arrangements a lot anyway. After all, you just want to have a good weekend in Montreal. You don't want to make a career out of investigating the touristy price trends of Northern North America. Yes? In some ways, these airfare search engines can be a bit annoying; oftentimes you'll find an ideal flight offered at one time and then come back and be unable to access the same flight through the same search engine. Or you might be able to access the same basic fare and ticket but unable to choose from the full range of times available.

For this reason it makes sense to bookmark any flight that you find particularly appealing, especially if the travel date is approaching quickly. It also helps to be persistent with these search engines. If the right thing isn't coming up at the right moment, sometimes it works to just try again, try searching with slightly different
parameters, or try searching for the same flight in a different place.
